Curry & Chocolate

It's perfect hot chocolate weather, so why not spice it up a little? The warming spices in our Curry Hot blend from Aromatic Spices pair surprisingly well with chocolate, and the hot spiciness from the curry just barely shines through to tickle the back of your throat. Instead of being too obviously curried, this drink has just a hint of something special that will keep you coming back for more.

This is an ultra rich hot chocolate that is definitely in the after dinner dessert category. And, made with coconut milk, it's even dairy free.

3 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1 teaspoon cocoa powder (dutch or natural process)
1/2 cup coconut milk (canned)
1 1/4 cups water
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon hot curry powder (or more to taste!)

Dash of salt

Put all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat, stirring often. Once the mixture simmers, remove from heat and whisk briskly to melt all the chocolate. You may also use an immersion blender to make the drink super frothy.

Yield: 2 large or 4 tiny servings
